A source from the depths of the Internet is implicating that Amazon’s cloud servers were used in the attacks against the PlayStation Network which breached over millions of consumer data and the downtime of Sony’s services.
According to Bloomberg, hackers created an account with fake details and stolen credit card information to rent a server through Amazon’s EC2 service and hacked into the PSN. Amazon and Sony have declined to comment, the authorities have refused to say anything as well.
If the case is true, it looks like Amazon would need to step up its services a bit, but again, I’ve rented quite an amount of servers in my time and there has only been one in particular which required my personal confirmation over the phone with a live rep.
