Seven Protesters Arrested at the Army Video Game Recruitment Center
May 4, 2009 by srfto

On Saturday 2nd of May in Philadelphia a large crowd of 100 protesters marched with a police escort on the Franklin Mills Mall. The protesters were permitted entry to stage their protest at the entrance to the Armies Experience Center.
They were protesting to the Army on account of the fact they use highly technological video game equipment to recruit new soldiers.
Many people who oppose the current military actions feel the use of video games to simulate war both trivialises and misleads the realities of conflict and military life.
Seven of the protesters took to the protest wearing Shyguy masks, a cardinal sin in the eyes of police who dislike masked protesting of any form.
Upon refusing instructions to disperse, the seven were arrested peacefully – which supports claims that the arrests were their intent from the offset.
The protesters were met and grieved via loud speaker by counter protesters who were said to enjoy some successes.
Overall it was a peaceful affair of anti-war chanting, songs and speeches where the protesters were able to voice their concerns and make their points. The United States Army Experience Center is still operational conducting the same recruitment methods as before.
