Sims 3 Torrent Available Before Official Release
EA has been plagued by piracy for much of its existence. They were hit by a Spore release before the game had even made it to our shelves then the DRM caused an intense backlash from angered fans who attacked the game with negative reviews on Amazon. If you thought this was bad think again – apparently Sims 3 has been leaked too!
Whether this is a legit file or not remains to be seen unless you have the guts to go download it and break the law. I don’t intend to show you where the game is either but a “Sims 3″ torrent has appeared on popular torrent sites and the majority of downloaders have reported that its a perfectly functioning copy.
The torrent comes with release documents that state “Be sure to have a firewall prevent the launcher and main game from going online, Support the software developers. If you like this game, BUY IT!”
In other words – here’s the game so you don’t have to buy it – but if you like it go buy it. Seems like a lame kop out to me.
I don’t think anything worse could have happened to EA regarding Sims 3 other than a catastrophic meteor impact on the development HQ…
Apparently “The game will have disc-based copy protection—there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed,” EA said on the official site. “We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future.”
Microsoft recently announced the development of new technology that forces people to activate a game online before it works, this is fantastic news in the fight against video game piracy and certainly affords the publisher a great deal of control over their copyright. I’m not holding hope for that though, its in the nature of video game pirates, movie pirates and internet marketing blackhatters to adapt and overcome virtually all efforts to cease their actions. After all, the “serial code” they added to the game was as much use as a chocolate fire guard…
Somewhat hilariously, many of the worlds video gamers are passing the buck and claiming they’re downloading the video for their other halves… yeah right. Man up and admit it – you want to play Sims!
