E3 is just so loaded with new stuff to see and do that it’s easy to miss some exciting looking games. Take, for instance, Monado: The Beginning of the World, which Nintendo quietly debuted during their press conference. So far all that’s really known about the game is that it is a Japanese style RPG coming out for the Wii sometime in the future.

The game is being developed by MonolithSoft, the studio primarily known for the Xenosaga series. Whether or not Monado will have the intensely convoluted storyline that that series was known for is unknown. The trailer shows the pretty standard mix of fantasy and technology that’s pretty much a given in JRPGs, and it features both third-person exploration scenes and what looks to be an active combat system akin to Final Fantasy XII. Game looks pretty good, although obviously not too flashy compared to the RPG titles coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Maybe motion control was the reason for bringing this game to the Wii.
