Sony just confirmed that they are indeed working on the next console.

Executive vice president Masuru Kato had this to say during a financial call:

“For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life,” he said, “but this is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”

So, with Nintendo unveiling the next Wii at E3 and Microsoft is rumored to already been giving away the next Xbox dev kits to developers. Sony will probably be playing catch-up to those two.

It just seem like yesterday that the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 was released. Time really does fly in the gaming world.
