Square-Enix Celebrates 25 Years of Dragon Quest with 1:1 Goodies

Expensive if I may add. They’re definitely justifying the whole ‘treasure’-like quality of these items in game aren’t they? Well translated to reality if I may say so myself.

But of course if you’re a diehard Dragon Quest fan, then price should be no absolute obstacle but a hurdle to be passed right? Realistically speaking however… If you want these items, you need to have a literal king’s ransom for them!

Square-Enix has released four of it’s intended 15 (unless they have anymore surprises) of it’s intended goodies for fans of one of their top selling franchises to date. So far, all are 1:1 scale and very expensive. They’re on a pre-order basis too. So far, most the preview photos for their products look like in-gamer captures than the real item to be bought itself. Those prices don’t even include shipping yet!

Considering the sizes/scale of these things… I can just imagine how pricey the shipping would be. Oh lovely.

Since this is all about Dragon Quest, naturally the items for these limited edition goodies would be of that theme. However, what makes them quite unique is that, so far, they’re to scale models of the items you normally find in-game. They will be made of various media to mimic in-game material as much as possible.

Normally, scale replicas are sparsely made. Usually given as preorder bonuses or limited edition giveaways. Scale replica choices are also very limited, making them rarer than they should be. What makes this selection quite interesting is how huge the catalog of the goodies are. This is quite something indeed.

So far we have:

  • Happy Birthday Slime (Without Tax: Y8,500, With Tax: 8,925)
  • Square-Enix is releasing them piece by piece so one will have to keep coming back to check when the rest of the catalog will be made available for pre-order.

And of course, this is apart from the goodies that Square-Enix will be releasing in line with their re-issued and upcoming Dragon Quest games.  They sure have a lot in store for this franchise, don’t they?
