Japanese magazine Weekly Shonen Jump has dashed the dreams of many prematurely in revealing what Square Enix’s countdown was all about. They could have at least let Square Enix crush our dreams themselves.

Named Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden, the game is a definite throwback to the older Final Fantasy games.Interestingly, it also seems to use the same MP system as the original Final Fantasy on the Nintendo.

The scan doesn’t really reveal anything new besides the game name, the (arguably) overdone “teenage boy goes on a quest to save the world” story, the fact that it is a DS title, and the estimated release being sometime this year.

Why do they keep skipping a Final Fantasy 5 remake? Come on! Every other pre-PS1 Final Fantasy game has been remade at least once. FF5 only got a slight overhaul for the GBA. Square Enix needs to man up and bring the class-changing epic to the new generation.

And, if you wanted to check out what the teaser is going to look like once it’s done, check out below. Fat Dragon and friends in full-color!
