Square Enix’s Mystery Countdown Site

What JRPG fan isn’t thrilled at the prospect of a new Square Enix video game? If you count yourself among said fans, then here’s a reason to start getting excited. Check out the official Square Enix site and you’ll find a countdown clock, that’s counting down to a reveal of something on July 6th. What is that something? The answer isn’t exactly clear, but given that the page title is “NEW GAME,” I think I’d be willing to place a wager on what will be revealed in little over two weeks.
Exactly what new game we’re talking about is not confirmed, but here’s a lead: Square Enix registered a trademark that, in English, translates to “The Four Warriors of Light.” For anyone who is old enough or just retro enough to have played the original Final Fantasy, that phrase should ring a bell. Will we be seeing a remake of Final Fantasy the first? Or some sort of spin-off or “inspired by” type of game? Stay tuned!
