The porting fever has come to iPhone and now and then we get some releases of old arcade games ported to it. This time it’s the turn for Streets of Rage, a retro arcade beat’em up that old school gamers know very well, but just in the case you were too young (or not even born) to play it when it was released in 1991 for Sega Megadrive / Genesis, we’ll introduce you a little bit. The plot is rather simple, a crime gang has taken control of the city and the 3 available characters, Adam Hunter, Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding will retake it breaking everybody’s face.

This side-scroller features three characters each of them with unique fighting styles and moves but they all can pick weapons scattered around. The original version consisted in 8 levels , with a final boss at the end of each level except for the 7th level.

On the iPhone version we still don’t know how does the controls work, but the game comes for just $5, so you may give it a try.
