On-rails rhooters are really a hit or miss, but id Software has chosen to make their newest game in the Doom series just that.

id Software are due to release Doom Resurrection for iPhone alongside Doom Classic next week. In recent interviews it became apparent that the game is loosely based on Doom III although it is set and takes place in an alternative area of the Mars station.
