Her work ranges from the classic Lara Croft outfit to the Jungle shorts, Underworld wetsuit and even the catsuit. Her work is by far one of the most accurate cosplay of Lara Croft world wide and it takes more than just short shorts and an air pistol to pull that off, her physical features and beauty plays a huge role as well.
The amount of work and effort needed to develop the outfits you’re about to see requires an intensive amount of time, passion and creativity. There are still lots of questions regarding the purpose of cosplay in the community and not widely accepted by all. For Lena, cosplay isn’t just a hobby – “it’s a passion, which means a lot of fun, but also helped me to improve my lack of self-confidence.”
“Over the years the cosplay became a huge meaning to me, but unfortunately I had to learn, that there is so much inconvenience and intolerance a lot of cosplayers have to face all over the world. But I think it’s time to show those people, that we aren’t a bunch of childish lunatics from another world without a real life. I know I’m far away from being the next Angelina Jolie and don’t want pretend to be. Therefore please spare me with comments like “You look nothing like her”. Because I’m neither a professional top model nor an actress, but that isn’t the point of cosplay either.”
Why Lara Croft of all characters you ask?
“I chose Lara Croft as my favourite character, because she is the idealised version of a woman on many levels. Lara is sexy, intelligent, tough, athletic, cultured, well travelled and has this kind of mysterious charm that works though. I can’t see any real woman matching up – but that’s the reason why she became my idol and my hero.”
The work from Lena is just magnificent and may help bring the cosplay culture one step further into acceptance in this world.
