The newest EDGE issue contains hidden clues that may be related to Pikmin 3?!?
May 4, 2009 by srfto

Word is on the street that there may be a teaser for the next installment in the Pikmin series in this month’s issue of EDGE. The ‘Next Month’ teaser page shows a close-up look at a patch of grass, and nestled in on the right-hand side is a small purple smudge that remarkably resembles a Pikmin.
The newest issue of Edge magazine may give us our first look at Bizarre Creations’ newest racer, Blur, via the cover; but it’s the teaser nestled near the back that may generate the most excitement.
Issue 202 of Edge magazine arrived in subscribers’ hands on February 5th 2009, and it seems to be a Pikmin-shaped surprise waiting at the end of it.

According to GoNintendo, the magazine ends with the trade mark enigmatic Edge teaser, one that is goading us in the direction of speculating an impending Pikmin-related release. While the full-page “Next Month” hint may look simply like a stereotypical lawn you may find in suburbia, it also appears to contain an excruciatingly small secret: a teeny tiny Pikmin-shaped purple blob. As seen by WiiWii.TV, Issue 202’s Next Month page hints at that a new Pikmin title will be revealed in the next issue. Can’t quite seem to make out what we’re talking about? Take a closer. Hidden amongst that green grass on the top right-hand side of the page is a small purple blobbish spec that looks remarkably like a Pikmin!

Shigeru Miyamoto quietly said that a new Pikmin title was in the works during a Question and Answer session at last year’s E3, but nothing has come about in terms of the game so far. “We’re making Pikmin,” Miyamoto said. Uh Huh…. They are developing Pikmin….
Whether this new Pikmin is a proper sequel for the Wii or for the Nintendo DS remains to be unveiled. Since the magazines new issue date is set for June 4th, a few days into this year’s E3 expo, we would expect any sort of official announcement to be revealed then.
Might all be revealed in the next month’s Edge, or are we trembling with excitement over a small blob for nothing?
