The Sims 3 Torrent Download May Surpass Spore’s

The Sims has been a gold mine for EA games but Sims 3 might be damaged by illegal downloads. EA has claimed their sales of Sims 3 did not meet their expected figures and are putting the blame on the number of times Sims 3 has been downloaded. In fact, even in the weeks before the game had even been released to stores, over 180,000 copies were downloaded in as little as three days.
When Spore came out, it too had massive illegal downloads but the Sims 3 torrent stream is reaching high numbers much faster than Spore initially did. If the rate continues to sustain, Sims 3 will be the most pirated PC game yet. Not that it’s a competition or a measure of how good a game is, but it seems EA games have definitely been on the popular end of illegal downloads.
Still, at least the legal copies of Sims 3 has some edge over the the torrent. There are special items that can be purchased through the on-line store that EA has for the Sims 3 game that players who haven’t “registered” their game cannot purchase. Also EA has been making claims that the torrent version of the game is not the completed version so people skimping out are missing on the extra goodies.

Maybe EA shouldn’t bleed their fans dry with pay to download content and mediocre expansions every six months and the fan base would be more willing to purchase their games rather than steal them. Me? I just wait 5 years when it’s all packaged together for $20. Stinks, though. I like to play games when they’re new, but not when they’re a rip off.

I agree with Kiru about the game companies ripping our pockets off just because it’s new, I personally don’t like to steal anything but when the game is ready since february and they keep delaying it just so they can attract more attention and get more money then they deserve what happened to them, the game didn’t yet come to Israel and I’m dying to play it so there is no way but using torrent download! Totally agree that the price is outrageous. £39.99?!! If EA cut their price in half I’m sure they would triple their sales. Nobody wants to steal, everyone wants the real version, but it’s just not affordable.
the cliche “the best things in life are free” still is true. although I did not download the game from torrent sites, I bought the game CDs from a store in the mall selling all pirated video games. and the Philippine government isn’t hunting all them down; they’re too busy with politics and making money, or rather, stealing money from the people. did I just say I am from Philippines? Well yes, in here, almost all people enjoy the pirated rather than the original ones. Who cares? No one.
