Square Enix’s next MMORPG ‘Final Fantasy XIV’ has a lot of gamers questioning the details and aspects of the game, such as the non-level system, religion, music, and gameplay. However, Producer Hiromichi Tanaka assure us that everything will make sense in the end.

Hiromichi talked with VG247 about how the non-level system will work in ‘Final Fantasy XIV’. He relates the system to Ultima Online and said will “make sense” when the game is launch next year.

“From MMO history, from the beginning, Ultima Online had a similar, skill-based system, so we do believe it will make sense to our players,” he said.”What we’re trying to provide to our players is flexibility. They don’t have to stick to one job: by providing this system they’ll be able to enjoy a variety of classes.”

He also added: “This time it’s not going to be just by killing monsters that you’ll gain experience points, but by using the weapon you hold in your hand, you’ll gain skills for that class. So, if you change your weapon you’ll change your class. You can change your class even between the battles; not during the battles.”

Lets be honest, I myself think that this whole non-level system will either break or make the game. But, this won’t cause as much controversy as the religion part of the game.

Yes worship us!

Yup, in the world of Eorzea it will have it’s very own religion for gamers to worship and pray to.

Tanaka said “It will have its own religion. It’ll be a really unique type of world,” he also added “This time with the world of Eorzea, what we’re trying to achieve is a very unique world. It’s going to be difficult to say whether it’s in the future or in the past. It’ll have some type of sci-fi element to it, and at the same time having medieval elements, so it’s really going to be difficult to say what type of world it’s going to be.”

Now as for the music, Tanaka is pleased that composer of previous Final Fantasy music, ‘Nobuo Uematsu’ will be taking care of the whole score for Final Fantasy XIV.

“As he’s very busy, we didn’t expect him to do all of the music for FFXIV, but this time he kindly suggested that he would take care of the whole [score].”

Nobuo Uematsu left Square Enix in 2004 with creator of the Final Fantasy franchise Hironobu Sakaguchi. Sakaguchi and Uematsu formed a new game development studio called ‘Mistwalker’.

Even though Uematsu is Vice President of ‘Mistwalker’, he does help compose a few themes for the Final Fantasy series from time to time, such themes include the Final Fantasy XIII’s main theme.

All in all, Tanaka said the only similiarities of FFXIV and FFXI will be the characters and that is it. Everything in FFXIV will be different from story to gameplay and the direction the game will go. Hopefully, the game will be ready by next year.
