Valve Making Your Life Easier in Team Fortress 2
June 16, 2009 by srfto

Team Fortress 2 enthusiasts can save themselves from some headaches starting today: Valve has released an update to the Source SDK which allows players to edit existing maps instead of being limited to building them from the ground up.
This is great news for those who just want to change certain areas of a map or who don’t want to invest seemingly endless hours into a customized map.
Additionally, Valve states that the update will benefit experienced map makers, stating they “hope this gives you a variety of examples of how we design and construct levels, the tools we use to finish the aesthetic/thematic elements, and some specific implementation solutions to performance and networking problems. We also hope that it’ll reduce the amount of confusion around the game logic and entity setup required for the various TF game modes.”
This is just the first in a long-line up SDK-based map and updates updates Valve is planning for the future.
