Venetica Set to Offer Solid Action RPG Gameplay

With all the big names, big titles and associated fanfare, there are a lot of little gems from E3 that are quite easy to mix. One example is the new game Venetica, which is being developed by Deck 13, a German company behind the similarly overlooked Jack Keane adventure game. For their next foray into the world of video games, Deck 13 has decided to go for a Diablo-esque action RPG that’s heavy on action and loot.

This new game takes place in the 16th century, in a slightly alternate world where Death is an actual physical and sentient entity, which is managed by a group called Corpus. Every generation, there’s a changing of the guard, as it were, and Corpus makes a bit of an error in judgment, choosing a maniacal necromancer as the successor for the current death. He decides to kill everyone and everything, and (for whatever reason) everyone is helpless to stop him except for the daughter of Death, Scarlett. As Scarlett, the player fights their way through the bad guys, leveling up, distributing stats and gathering loot in traditional action RPG style.

It doesn’t look to be anything groundbreaking, but the games looks good and seems to play well based on what’s been seen. It should be a solid entry in the genre and worth a look for fans of that style of game. It should be out later on this year on the Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
