80GB Playstation 3 are being Discontinued in Japan for PS3 Slim?

Rumors and reports of Sony PS3 Slim has been surfacing this past week. Kotaku reported that Sony asked 7-eleven to stop distributing the 80GB PS3.

ps3711This notice is apparently from retailer 7-Eleven (7-Eleven sells video games in Japan) and stats that pre-orders for the Black, White and Silver 80GB PS3 will cease on Sunday, August 9 at 10am.

The reason listed is literally “For the manufacturer” — or at the maker’s request.

Also, past week Telegraph reported a rumor of seeing a PS3 Slim selling on Amazon’s German website which was removed quickly. However, recently DigiTimes just reported that Sony ordered parts from Taiwan to make one million PS3 consoles which got a lot of people scratching there heads in wonder.

First of all, there is not a high demand for the Playstation 3 for Sony to just order that many PS3. So, in this case you have the 80 GB PS3 taken off the market, but you have parts to make over one million PS3 consoles and there is no high demand for the PS3..Unless of course a brand new Playstation 3 Slim which will fit perfectly on why Sony is moving like this or maybe the people who were in charge of the Girlz PSP is also in charge of ordering the parts….
