Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PC Patch Removes SecuRom DRM from Steam
March 16, 2010 at 11:29 pm by Ruibo
DICE is releasing a patch with an enormous amounts of bug fixes and improvements, but one most noticeable for players on Steam is that the SecuROM DRM will be removed. There is an extent to how much DRM protection your loyal customers are willing to take and Ubisoft needs to take some notes on this subject. DICE is moving in the right direction and I could not be anymore happier to see SecuROM removed completely from the Steam client.
You can find the rest of the patch notes below for those interested.

And when are they gonna fix the damn team balance?
and what the fuck about the damn black screen of death? thats the most important of all!!!
second the team balance.
Why dont they shut down torrents and start arresting people? I think that will stop piracy and stop putting game developers out of a job.
Shut down torrents and arrest people?
Learn a bit about torrents and then revel in your own stupidity.
What a fucking idiot.
Maybe if game developers made games worth a shit and stopped trying to punish LEGIT game owners, you'd find that the rate of piracy would lessen greatly. There's no way in hell I'm going to pay $60 for a PC game RENTAL in which I can only install the game a set number of times.
If you think piracy is what's killing game development, you couldn't be more wrong. Use your brain before you try to jump on the anti-piracy bandwagon, "bob."
Why would anyone pay $60 for a PC game RENTAL if it's only $35 for an unused brand new copy? Crooked reasoning.
There are hundreds of thousands of game buying people, if not more, that are completely ignorant of torrents, rar and par files, cracked servers, setting up Tunngle or Hamachi or whatever, and so on. They simply double-click icons but never go into configuring. Some panic when AutoPlay isn't enabled and return their copies because they think there is something wrong with the disc. You know the type.
Of all those people, most I'm convinced buy the game not because they are honest or fair-hearted, but because they can't be bothered with all the hassle and technical know-how of doing it the illegal way. The moment anti-piracy measures are removed they, too, will happily start copying games or having them copied for a small price.
