Capcom charging players for 3DS demos

Capcom, the company that cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 on several occasions, and the most recent time due to lack of player feedback and interest when the demo was on the eShop, is looking to experiment with charging players to pay to play demos.

Capcom is testing the waters in Japan with a paid demo of Nazo Waku Yakata, which is up for sale at Nintendo’s eShop for ¥200 or $2.50. The game itself does not even require the use of the 3DS buttons, but instead mostly relies on the sound and mic. $2.50 will get you the first chapter of the game.

While that may not be a hefty price, it’s the principles that counts. Capcom is not calling it a demo, but instead a small offering of a full, standalone retail product that is now on sale.

Regardless of what you want to call it, we know what it really is.
