Nintendo has just announced the successor to the Wii today with the all new Wii U and pass rumors of its features are more than true.
The new console will support HD graphics and features a 6.2 inch touch-screen as a secondary display or provide additional information.
The Wii U is backwards compatible with old Nintendo Wii games, supports motion-sensor capabitlies and works in conjunction with Wii controllers and other peripherals.
- plays 10 adp graphics, can connect to HDMI
- will play proprietary high density discs and downloaded content
- hits stores between April 1 2012 and December 2012
- no HD video on touchscreen, but the new console will deliver HD video on TV screens
- camera-pointer hybrid, and the ability to have elements of a game projected onto the floor
- two analog sticks and traditional buttons, including analog triggers and shoulder buttons.
Nintendo’s Iwata could not stress more than enough that the controller is not a standalone handheld as much as it looks like one and that images on the screen generated by the Wii U are streamed wirelessly with “no” latency to the device.
